DescriptionThere are a few major types of household mouse or rat. The Norway Rat, the Roof Rat and the Common House Mouse. The Norway Rat is found mostly in the Northwest while the Roof Rat is found mostly along coastal regions. Of course, the Common House Mouse is found everywhere. Rat and mice can be detected by looking for urine stains and droppings in suspected areas. An ultraviolet light may be helpful in locating stains. Most rodents are active at night. |
How to Eliminate Mice and RatsThere are a few time tested methods for eliminating mice and rats. The snap trap being the most common. The spring loaded trap will kill a mouse or rat quickly. Snap traps should be placed in pair and usually some bait such as peanut butter will attract the pest. If you find that traps are snapped without a catch, baiting the trap without setting the lever few several days. Keep baiting it until the pest becomes used to trap, then set it. There are also live traps which allow a catch and release. The mouse or rat gets in to get the bait, but can not get back out. Finally, there are poisons that you can use to quickly eliminate mice and rats. |
