DescriptionWasps and yellow jackets are often confused with honey bees. Anything the stings is often referred to as a bee sting. When you see yellow jackets at your picnic, they are probably out searching for protein that is needed by their larvae. They typically only attack when provoked or when their nest is in jeopardy. Many people are allergic to the poison from a sting which causes additional stress to eliminate these pests. |
How to Eliminate Wasp and Yellow JacketDestroying a wasp or yellow jacket nest is not terribly difficult if the nest can be located. If a nest is in the ground, an aresol pesticide can be used to spray into the nest (best to do this at night), place a rock over the hole and move quickly away. Protective gear should be worn. If the nest is in the air, again wear protective clothing. Aerosols can be used to freeze the nest at which point it can be cut off and put into a plastic bag for destruction. Sometimes the best bet is a professional when trying to get rid of wasps and yellow jackets simply because the risk of being stung or injured is so high. |
